The extensive reconstruction of 3 thermal baths in Budapest started in January.The baths welcome its guests during the reconstruction as follows (based on the information published on www.spasbudapest.com):
Gellért Bath:
1st phase of reconstruction:
From 8 January 2007 the men’s bath is open for men and women, with the
compulsory use of swimming suit
- Renovation of the women’s thermal bath
- Renovation of the openable roofing of the swimming pool
- Reconstruction of the roofing of the lobby and the dome hall
2nd phase of reconstruction: expected for the second half of 2007.
The women’s bath is open for men and women, with the compulsory use of swimming suit
- Renovation of the men’s thermal bath
- Renovation of the changing rooms of the men’s thermal bath in the basement
Széchenyi Bath:
1st phase: expectedly the first half of 2007
- 1. Department of Complex Bath Medical Services (Day-time Hospital), weight bath pool
- 2. and 5. Pool locker rooms (men’s and women’s side) and the basement
- 3. Sunbathing roof terrace of the pool (men’s and women’s side)
2nd phase: expectedly the second half of 2007
- 4. Joint thermal department (part of the previous women’s thermal bath) and its new pool entrance
- 3rd phase: expectedly the second half of 2007 and first quarter of 2008
- 6. Joint steam department and a new octagon pool with entrance
- 7. Altering the locker room of the joint steam department
The Lukács Bath
1st phase: expectedly the first half of 2007
- Renovation of steam bath pools
- Department of Complex Bath Medical Services (Day-time Hospital)
- Renovation of sunbathing roof terrace of the pool
- Handicap access
- Renovation of the mudbath hall
Lukács Bath is closed from 8 January 2007. The steam chamber service, which wasn’t opearting during the thermal hydraulic renovation, is available in the new, temporary steam chamber by the pool. The medical pool service is available in the fancy pool and it’s operating with medical water.
