Children’s Day 27th-28th May - Programs in Budapest

Posted under Weekly interests & Children Programs

Last weekend of May is here and for many years we celebrate International Children’s Day with varied outdoor programs in Budapest.

Children’s Day in the City Park

City park has been a venue for free children’s day programs for decades. There’ll be concerts in the Petőfi Stadium, folk dance, Japanese martial arts show, sculpture-making from Szamos Marzipan, clown and puppet performances. Kids can try their hands on various crafting activities, too.

Vajdahunyd Castle will turn into a Renaissance court with knights in period costumes, tournaments, gastronomy shows for which live Renaissamce music provide idylic background. Jumping castles and playgrounds throughout the park provide additional entertainment for the little ones.

Budapest Zoo

The youngest tenants of the zoo will enchant kids and adults alike: Bóbita the lion cub who is looked after by the zoo staff can be seen on Saturday, Sunday and on Whitsun Monday at 11 am-13 pm and at 15pm-17 pm. Layla the 220 kg rhino calf will be on its runway between 12-12.30. The little prairie dogs and the emu chicks will no doubt be also very pouplar. Playgrounds, concerts, and face painting make Budapest Zoo a terrific weekend program this weekend.
