Budapest Spring Festival 16th March-1st April 2007

Every spring since 1981, when the Spring Festival was first held, Budapest becomes a cultural capital of whole Europe. Rich and varied program attracts culture lovers from around the world: classical music, opera, ballet, dance, chamber evening, folk and jazz music, exhibitions are included in the repertoire of the 2-week festival. The performances take palce at several venues throughout Budapest: the modern Palace of Arts (Művészetek Palotája), the Opera House.

The year’s highlights of the festival will be:

  • Russian National Orchestra,
  • Kodály Evening,
  • Jazz evening by Nigel Kennedy,
  • the famous Hungarian-born guitar duo, the Katona Twins’ performance,
  • Maria Serrano & Kámán Balogh: Flamenco meets Gypsy music
  • for folk music lovers Márta Sebestyén and the Andro Drom provide entertainment
  • unique exhibitions on jewels, stamps and artisitic glass works are also promising programs
